Lehetta Lane is originally from Goodooga far west New South Wales.

Steven Stanton is originally from Goodooga/Gunnedah far west and North West New South Wales.

Lehetta – 3rd year at Newcastle University- studied 2 years of Bachelor of Aboriginal studies, in 2006 will be studying the Bachelor of teaching/ Bachelor of physical education.

Steven 2nd year at Newcastle University- studying the Bachelor of teaching /Bachelor of Arts.

Lehetta Lane and Steven Stanton are both proud to be Aboriginal.

Lehetta Lane wishes to finish uni with a double degree in Bachelor of Aboriginal studies and Physical Education- I want to help Aboriginal children get a better education and see more Aboriginal children/youths finish year 12 and make a go for themselves in their near future.

The role of the Indigenous Student Convenor is to assist and help the Aboriginal students at the University of Newcastle.

- Help them to understand the universities rules.

- Make clear of the roles of the university

- Fight for the rights for the indigenous students

- Get them to understand the issues

- We are a mentor

- We make friendship bonds with all student

- We are there for moral support

- We break down the language- if some student don’t understand

- Talk with student about time management eg assignments

- Explain to them the importance of education.

We would like to hold an event once a month

- Cultural camp- to introduce myself and Steven Stanton to the students to make them feel comfortable.

- Major event- The Indigenous Student Games

- Weekly meeting/gatherings

- Attend NUSA meetings

- SORRY day

- Cultural awareness day – hold a stall

- A monthly newsletter- if NUSA have a newsletter we would like to have a column in there’s

- Suggestion box- ideas form the students

- Adopt a culture

- Traditional games

- Treasure hunt

- Motivational speaks

- It’s a knockout- which we would like to involve all Convenors in the University of Newcastle.
