speling misteaks

Has anyone noticed the amount of students at university who can't spell or use correct grammar. Then there are the individuals who propose to assume an air of superiority by using verbose prose, only to have all the rules of syntax broken.

A fantastic book I recommend to all is written by Lynn Truss on the rules of grammar, etc and is titled "Eats, shoots and leaves", or something to that effect. This lady seems to feel quite strongly that correct usage of grammar and spelling have gone down the drain. I do blame this on the fact that most schools these days are equipped with computers that offer the spell check facility. Very handy indeed, as I myself have used it quite frequently in essays, however this should not be used as a substitute for basic spelling and grammar. Let's all attempt to be a little more active in promoting a professional image of high achieving young citizens at uni.
