Women's ReportReports | 4. Natural/ArtificialWould you like your campus to be free of sexist advertising? The women’s collective is currently organising a campaign to speak out against and stop sexist advertising on campus. This includes the objectification of women to sell alcohol and head hunting of ‘Jim Beam Girls’ during o’week. Sexist advertising reinforces the misconception that women are objects whose sole purpose is to please men. Newcastle University is not a place for such preposterous and unacceptable fallacies. Get sexist ads off our campus now! Contact the collective for more information. Submitted by opuseditor on Tue, 2006-06-20 12:49.

The Spill Part TwoFiction | 4. Natural/ArtificialThe ritualist felt more tears in his clothes as held tight to the lizard’s tail and tried to hold its body still with his elbow as it twisted. “Why go through this dumb parade with a lizard?” –a stranger online had said- “What is it about getting hold of an illegal nuisance for the purpose of swapping it for a lethal nuisance that seems like such a good idea?”. The ritualist carefully squelched that thought, walked slowly backwards around the circle and began to chant:

Estuary On The EdgeArticles | 4. Natural/ArtificialNewcastle harbour is an area divided between industry and environmental conservation. Known for being the world’s largest coal exporter, it also exhibits large tracks of nature reserves, State significant SEPP 14 wetlands as well as the internationally recognised RAMSAR wetlands. These contradicting land uses are located within meters of each other and as contemporary society continues to push for economic growth and industrial expansion, the Hunter Estuary Wetlands and Newcastle coastal areas are being put under more and more stress. Many people are beginning to question whether the short sighted, unsustainable coal industry should be pushed at the expense of the long-term ecological integrity of the Hunter River Estuary. Not Another HeroMiscellaneous | 4. Natural/ArtificialTo be honest I am not sure what to consider natural anymore. The earth operates as a closed system, true? And unless you are an alien we were all born out of, and fed by the substances of the earth. Right? So is everything natural then? Why be concerned about artificial anything? Consider this: Submitted by opuseditor on Tue, 2006-06-20 12:16.

SEX IN THE BIG CITYArticles | 4. Natural/ArtificialInterview by Noah Cross. For Big City Exile, every new day brings another moderate success. From meeting their lead singer at a drunken, debauched Newcastle party, the band have quickly endeared themselves to their local listeners. In April, the five-piece spread their wings to prestigious venues throughout Sydney and Melbourne (The Metro Theatre, The Annandale, The Hopetoun, The Esplanade, The Rob Roy) on their Whirlwind Romance tour.
