Bullying at the University, even if you aren’t personally targeted, affects the quality of your education. If staff and students aren’t free to criticise processes and to report wrongdoing without fear of their careers being destroyed, your education is being compromised. If good academics are forced out because they blew the whistle, the academic talent pool is depleted at your university. If bullies are promoted and their victims are pushed out, you end up with an entrenched, toxic culture in the administration that doesn’t know how to manage any other way.
The “United Stand against Bullying” movement is holding a protest at 17 Bolton Street, Newcastle, at 1.30 pm on Friday 15th March 2013. This protest will coincide with a Work Injury Damages Claim, the first ever in Australia because of bullying.
